"Height and Depths"

"For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us" (Psalm 103:11-12, NIV)

"Just as the heavens are higher than the earth, my thoughts and my ways are higher than yours" (Isaiah 55:9, CEV)

"And I pray that you and all God's holy people will have the power to understand the greatness of Christ's love - how wide and how long and how deep that love is" (Ephesians 3:18, NCV)

Looking out to sea we realise something of how big our world is. Our view disappears at the horizon; yet this is not the end, it goes on and on. The skies stretch out as an expanse above us, as far as the eye can see; yet they are only the beginning. The waters of the sea go deeper than we can see, yet their depths do not even touch upon the depths of our planet.

Our God is far bigger still than the widest, deepest, highest parts of creation that we can imagine. His love for us is greater than we can ever know. He can open our minds and hearts and show us more. There is so much more to see, learn and know - are we open?
