"What's happening?"

"When you see a cloud rising in the west, immediately you say, 'It's going to rain,' and it does. And when the
south wind blows, you say, 'It's going to be hot,' and it is. Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance
of the earth and the sky. How is it that you don't know how to interpret this present time?" (Luke 12:54-56, NIV)
Jesus scolded the people of his day for not understanding what God was doing amongst them. They had got so
used to looking for what they wanted and only seeing what they wanted to see that they failed to perceive what
was going on. God was not doing what they expected. But why did they not expect it? Had they failed to learn
how to read the signs correctly? Had they got a wrong idea of what God would do or who He is?
Do we understand what God is doing now? Can we read the signs? Perhaps we can't see anything - perhaps we
are looking for the wrong things. Like an enormous weather front sweeping across the sky, the signs of God's
activity and His plans coming to fruition might be there for us to see, if only we would look up and open our eyes.
Ask God to help you to see what He is doing. Ask Him to help you interpret the times you are living in. Spend some
time waiting upon the Spirit, asking God to help you understand what is happening. Is there a storm coming or
going? Is the sunshine on its way or about to fade? Which way is the wind of the Spirit blowing in your life and
in this world today?

What's happening?
